Justin Timber-Fake

Justin Timberlake, who allegedly brought sexy back, is now trying to bring back something else: ungratefulness

It turns out he’s pretty good at it too. In a recent interview with British GQ magazine, Timberlake angered his corporate sponsors by waxing moronic on both McDonald’s and the Grammy’s. “I view the Grammy’s the same way as I see my deal with McDonald’s,” Justin said. “I regret the McDonald’s deal.”

Timberlake, who signed on as a spokesman with Mickey D’s in 2003, sang the “I’m lovin’ it” jingle in exchange for the fast food chain’s sponsorship on his European tour that year.

Continuing, Justin bashed the Grammy’s some more. “It’s kind of interesting. Just like the McDonald’s deal, whose market share went up 25 percent when I walked into those offices and changed their image. When I (performed at) the Grammy’s, the viewing figures went up by 25 percent. Funny, isn’t it?”

No, not really, JT. This is the business you have chosen. These deals you made, with both McDonald’s and the Grammy’s, were mutually beneficial. You sang the McDonald’s jingle and they put up the money to sponsor your tour. You performed at the Grammy’s and the television exposure allowed you to sell more albums. That’s the way the music business works, kiddo. If you don’t like it, get out. It’s either that or you can sponsor your own tours from now on. The choice is yours.

The fact is, Timberlake knew what he was getting into when he signed on the dotted line. He knows that the music business is a “you scratch my back, I’ll scratch yours” kind of industry. I can only imagine that he is having doubts about past deals because he is just now realizing they made him look like a bit more of a dork than he already was.

Isn’t it funny how anytime a performer wants to talk trash about their sponsors, they go overseas to do it? Timberlake ran his mouth to British GQ because he probably knew that saying that stuff in Rolling Stone here in the United States would have gotten him into a bit more trouble with the suits he answers to.

But hasn’t he ever heard of the AP wire? C’mon Justin. You are a celebrity. If you say anything on record anywhere in the world, whatever it is, it will find its way back home. Oh well. Consider it a lesson learned.

Now, you better get on back home. And be prepared to get your knees dirty, too. McDonald’s probably needs you for their new Big Mac campaign.

Da-da-Da-da-Daaah, start suckin it.
